The Gala is the cornerstone of HKI’s 100th Anniversary. This special evening will shine a light on the progress made and the opportunities ahead to help more people in need build healthier, happier lives.

Helen Keller International was founded in 1915 by George Kessler, a wealthy wine merchant and survivor of the sinking of the Lusitania, with Helen Keller and William Nelson Cromwell, founder of Sullivan & Cromwell, as founding Board members.  Today, we are a leading international nonprofit organization that works to save the sight and lives of the world’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged. We prevent blindness and reduce malnutrition through 180 programs in 21 African and Asian countries, as well as here in the United States.

Last year alone, we touched the lives of nearly 300 million people.
